HISTORIC SITE OPEN HOUSE IN CHEVERLY Sunday, March 29th 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Cheverly United Methodist Church 2901 Cheverly Avenue at Forest Road. CUMC and the County’s Historic Property Program invite you to the church to learn about energy efficiency improvements for the county’s newest historic site. Tour the building and learn about the many community activities at the church and efforts to match a $45,000 grant from M-NCPPC to reduce very large energy costs. For information call 301-773-1314.

"Parks & Recreation: 2010 and Beyond” is a community needs assessment project that is focused on parks and recreation. Help us identify needs for recreation programs, parks, trails, and open space needs--now, and for the future in Prince George's County." The organizers promise to share the results of the online survey (you did respond to the survey, didn't you?) at these meetings.

Special Presentation on Financing for Conservation, featuring Jennifer Cotting of the University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center. Learn about strategies that land trusts, watershed organizations, towns and community groups have used to support conservation purchases and practices. PLANT YOUR OWN VEGETABLE GARDEN! Progressive Cheverly has helped start Cheverly’s own Community Garden at Boyd Park. There are 29 plots available (4 feet x 20 feet) for a cost of $20 per year, but they are going fast. Some tools and water will be available on site.
