Our Mission: Based in Cheverly, Maryland, our mission is to promote economic fairness, social justice, basic human rights, a sustainable environment, a tolerant society and world peace through a more informed political dialogue and active participation in civil society and the democratic political process.
► Our April forum will be "Prince George's Hospital, Public Health, and Access to Care in the County". The forum will be on Thursday, April 5, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Come hear top ranking county officials speak on the status and future of Prince George’s Hospital, a way forward to end critical public health challenges in the County and what these changes mean to county residents. Our speakers will include: Bradford L. Seamon, Chief Administrative Officer for County Executive Rushern Baker; Betty Hager Francis, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Health, Human Services and Education: and Pamela Brown Creekmur, Acting Health Officer for Prince George's County. At the Judith Hoyer Montessori School Cafeteria, 2300 Belleview Ave., Cheverly. Refreshments will be served. ► Our May forum will be "Fighting Human Trafficking Here and Abroad and Empowering Girls at Risk" with invited speaker Andrea Powell, co-founder of FAIR (Free, Aware, Inspired, Restored) Girls. Come hear Andrea's inspiring personal story that moved her to form an organization to provide care and opportunities for girls who have experienced or are at risk of sexual and labor exploitation. The program will be Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00 pm in the Judith Hoyer Montessori School Cafeteria, 2300 Belleview Ave., Cheverly. Refreshments will be served. ► Early Voting: Voters can vote early for the Maryland Primary Election. The closest early voting center is at the Sports and Learning Center. All area residents are welcome to attend. ► News: Gwendolyn T. Britt Award in 2010, members of Progressive Cheverly voted to institute the Gwendolyn T. Britt Award as a means to foster and support an individual or group working to advance the goals and principles outlined in Progressive Cheverly's mission statement.
